About the Press
The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), through the Directorate of Knowledge Management in Agriculture (DKMA), facilitates the development, publication and dissemination of quality educational and scholarly resources in agriculture and allied sciences through its digital publishing platform.
The ICAR e-Textbooks initiative has been developed to support the availability of quality textbooks and academic publications for students, teachers, researchers and professionals associated with agricultural and allied education. The platform focuses particularly on Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG) and Ph.D. level textbooks in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agroforestry, Agricultural Engineering, Veterinary Sciences, Fisheries and other related disciplines.
The Press provides an online mechanism for submission, evaluation, editorial processing, peer review, revision, production and publication of textbooks and other approved scholarly publications. Manuscripts submitted for publication are subject to peer review and editorial evaluation before final acceptance and publication.
The content of the textbooks is developed with due consideration to the course curricula recommended by the Deans’ Committee, while allowing authors and editors to incorporate relevant and updated information appropriate to the Indian agricultural and allied sciences context. Textbooks may be published in English or Hindi, as appropriate.
The Press aims to encourage experienced academicians, scientists, teachers and subject experts from agriculture and allied disciplines to contribute high-quality educational resources. Authors are encouraged to prepare manuscripts in accordance with the prescribed author guidelines and publication requirements of ICAR.
Through its digital publishing platform, ICAR aims to facilitate wider access, preservation and dissemination of scholarly and educational publications, thereby supporting teaching, learning, research and knowledge dissemination across the National Agricultural Research and Education System.

Our Publishing Principles
ICAR is committed to maintaining appropriate standards of academic quality, peer review, editorial integrity, authorship, research ethics, copyright and responsible scholarly publishing. Authors are required to comply with the prescribed submission, formatting, copyright and permission requirements before publication. The existing portal also requires authors to confirm that submitted manuscripts have not been previously published or submitted elsewhere and that necessary permissions for third-party material have been obtained.
